The Art of Seeing: Oregon, Melipona & Remembering the Earth

I’m realizing the art of seeing is not just visual. It’s subtle, relational.

Yesterday morning I went to a park, only to discover a lush ecosystem that feels more alive than any place I’ve experienced. This experience in Oregon opened my awareness in a new way. The air smelled sweet from the sun warming the trees and river below. Moss everywhere. Curved trees that looked like they danced toward the light instead of forcing themselves straight. I felt high off oxygen, beauty, and presence alone.

Later that morning, I laid on my bed beneath a black locust tree that just began blooming, watching the carpenter bees moving from blossom to blossom outside my window while using Melipona, a honey made by stingless bees. I have been sitting with this potent medicine for my eyes. And suddenly it all landed. Not intellectually, but within my being.

Costa Rica awakened something in me years ago, but Oregon feels like it’s teaching me how to root into my connection to myself and with the oneness of the planet. How to listen. How to build a life around what actually makes me feel alive instead of what cultural conditioning says I “should” do.

I’m living out the knowing that the future isn’t about performance, hyper-productivity, or becoming someone else. It’s about creating spaces where people can finally exhale enough to be themselves again. Connection. Nature. Beauty. Community. Conscious living. The return to the village. And this begins with my own remembrance.

The wildest part? This wasn’t some hidden sacred destination. It was a community sports park surrounded by ancient-feeling forest and a river. Imagine kids playing soccer in the center of the park while moss-covered trees stretched through the forest trails, almost magically dancing in the light. This is everyday illumination, magic woven into ordinary life.

And to be honest, that’s the whole point.

The art of seeing is realizing the earth has been speaking, moving through us, and guiding us the whole time. Because we are nature. And we are the only aspect of nature that has forgotten. After all, flowers just bloom, trees just rise, and the river just runs its course.

What’s fascinating is that, just like the trees, Melipona carries centuries of reverence behind it. Traditionally sourced from rare stingless bees native to Central and South America, it has long been considered sacred medicine by Indigenous cultures, especially the Maya, who used it not only to support physical vision, but spiritual sight as well.

Initially, I started using it to heal my eyesight physically. But what’s happening feels much deeper than that. It feels like deep cellular remembrance. A reconnection to the spirit of earth, my body, intuition, and perception itself.

Many traditional teachings surrounding Melipona describe it as something that clears perception and deepens connection to nature, intuition, and subtle awareness. And honestly? That mirrors exactly what this experience has felt like for me.

Not hallucination.
Not escapism.
Presence.

The smell of the forest becoming more vivid.
The way the light moves through the trees.
The feeling of the river in the air.
The sweetness of moss warmed by the afternoon sun.
The awareness that life is constantly communicating through pattern, texture, sound, scent, and sensation.

The only way I can describe it is like truly falling in love. But a love I have never felt or experienced before.

And not with a person.
With life itself.

With Gaia.
With Source.
With the intelligence woven through the earth’s design.
With the realization that beauty is not superficial, it is regulatory. Healing. Remembrance.

Some people walk through a forest and simply see trees.

Others feel the entire ecosystem breathing, just as they feel their heartbeat.

I think the future of healing, community, creativity, and even leadership is returning us to that relationship again. Not separating spirituality from life, but weaving it back into how we gather, eat, create, rest, know ourselves, and exist together as a village.

Maybe “new earth” isn’t somewhere we escape to.

Maybe it’s moments where we become present enough to experience it in real time.

And maybe the art of seeing is remembering that it was always here.
