“I’ve been working with Amy individually for a few years now, and she’s helped me find peace and regain my footing through some really tricky moments with my family and my career. When she invited me to her retreat in Costa Rica, I surprised both of us by saying “yes” and I’m so grateful I did.
I had devoted the past decade to motherhood and had thoroughly lost myself in the process. If you can’t fill from an empty cup, I was doing my very best at faking it. I was worried that I would be a shell of myself forever.
From the moment I arrived in Costa Rica, I felt a stirring in my heart. The entire experience was invitation after invitation to sit with myself and acknowledge my needs, thoughts, and desires (and also the habit to squelch them, that had led to the state of lack I had grown so accustomed to).
At the retreat, I came back home to my own body and voice. I was surrounded by all the support I needed to let go of those old patterns – the profound wildness of the place, the energetic space created by Amy and the facilitators, the vibrant and supportive community, the physical and soul food we shared.
To be held that way made it so safe to release so much and uncover what remained and what mattered. Without judgment, I was able to feel gratitude for all that had served me before, while knowing it was time to move on.
I returned home a different person, and when I landed back in the life I had created pre-retreat, there were some shockwaves. It was messy, and I was able to navigate the mess, holding onto what I had discovered in order to create the life I am meant to live, letting the residue wash away from the life I was merely surviving before.
Thankfully, I’ve had the support of Amy and my new sisterhood to help me remember to always follow the stirring in my heart, especially when it’s messy, because that’s precisely where the magic is.”
